There is currently no way to force dark mode only on Google Search or selective websites. Since it is a feature that force dark mode on all web contents, it will affect all other web pages opened in Chrome as well. The “Enable Force Dark Mode” feature is a unique feature in Chrome that makes forcing dark mode on Google Search possible. This method only works on Google Chrome browser. Since it’s a forced mode, there might be some visual bugs on some web pages with the force dark mode on. It is a handy feature to manually apply dark mode for websites that are not ready for it. With this option enabled, Chrome will automatically render all web contents, including Google homepage, Google search results and all other web pages, using a dark theme. For now, the best we can do is to manually force dark mode on Google Search using the “ Force Dark Mode” feature in Chrome browser on Windows 10 PC or Android device. Though Google has been testing the dark mode for the past years, there is still no news on when it will be available to the users (as of 2021). To permanently deactivate Dark Mode feature in Chrome, you can reset “ Android Chrome UI dark mode” flag to Default in Chrome://flags page.Google Search doesn’t have an official dark mode or night mode. If you want to disable Dark Mode in future, set the Dark Mode option to OFF in Chrome Settings. IMPORTANT NOTE 2: You can also use Chrome://restart command in address bar to completely restart Google Chrome and apply changes. Now relaunch Chrome and you’ll get Dark Mode option on Settings page. IMPORTANT NOTE 1: If you can’t find Dark Mode option on Settings page, completely close Chrome app using Recent apps button on your mobile phone and close all running apps. Menus, toolbars, pages and everything else will be shown in new Dark UI. It’ll immediately apply new Dark Mode in Chrome on Android. Tap on Dark mode option and set the toggle button to ON.
Now you’ll find a new option “ Dark Mode” as shown in following screenshot: Now tap on 3-dots menu in Chrome and select Settings option. Click on “ Relaunch Now” button to relaunch Google Chrome.
Tap on the “ Default” drop-down box and select “ Enabled” option from the list.Ĭhrome will ask you to restart the browser. If enabled, user can enable Android Chrome UI dark mode through settings.
